Summary: A smart buy ...
Comment: Loved it, loved it, loved it ... I got my Neo Monday Night. Downloaded some courses that night and golfed with it Tuesday Night. Absolutely perfect for what I wanted. At $149 and a one time membership fee to download 100 courses (not an annual fee to keep it running) who could want more? Neo told me distances to front/center/back and that's all I needed. Checked the markings on the course and they were right on. It's best used when you're off in the rough, angled away from the fairway distances and need a distance from your "current line" of sight. Distances to the center of the green off any line was dead on. Any green I missed last night was because of my shot, not club selection. I really liked it ... and I liked it because I didn't spend $400+ on color pictures of stuff I don't need or use and I don't have to pay an annual fee to keep turning it on year after year!!! If you're a mid handicapper like me, can execute but just need accurate distances from anywhere (and not from dead center of the fairway), this is the tool. It's great. Next, I need to learn how to add points on the holes with water and sand and all that junk. I'm excited ... can you tell? Loved it!!!

Summary: So small, you'll forget it's in your pocket!
Comment: The iGolf Neo was my first GPS unit for golf. I've had the laser range finders, and this Neo makes finding the distance much quicker. Though it does not give distance to the pin, it is very accurate to all areas of the green. I've been able to download all courses that I need. The "shot distance" feature makes betting on "long drives" fun because you can measure the exact distance to each ball. Mapping each hole is simple, and you can map 4 different things per hole. And it is literally so small, you'll forget it is in your pocket. And I do keep it in my pocket, because the only negative thing is that the unit does not stay in the plastic belt clip very securely. Oh, and did I mention that it's the lowest priced GPS unit out there?? Well worth the money!!

Summary: A wonderful device -- but check for courses available
Comment: I have had the iGolf Neo for a week now and couldn't be happier. My golfing buddies drool over it! The device is very fast and very accurate and I love its small size. As reported in various golf forums, the only problem is the belt clip holder: the first time I played with the Neo, the device fell out, and I had to re-trace my steps on the golf course to find it. Whew! However, I now simply stuff it in my pocket, and that works fine. Other electronic devices tend to get more expensive as they get smaller -- not so with the Neo, which is much less expensive than the competition. I was ready to buy a Skycaddie 2.5 until I came across the lower-price and more convenient Neo. A real winner!
Note: Here is a follow-up to the above review, written two months later: I continue to be very satisfied with the Neo. I have used it many times at my home course and have also used it at several other courses, both in Canada and the US. Only 1 of these courses was not available for downloading from the website, and this may be due to the fact that this particular course (where the PGA holds a tournament) provides a caddie (i.e., the caddie had a yardage book and gave me my distances for every shot). Customer service from iGolf is pretty good: sometimes the iGolf website has been down; sometimes the live customer support is not available; and, a couple of email inquiries have gone unanswered. But all in all, I am extremely happy with the Neo.

Summary: My Secret Weapon!
Comment: I purchased the "Neo" last week and right out of the box I charged it and went straight to my golf course and mapped the first nine holes. Later that afternoon I played the nine holes with a foursome and boy did I have the advantage. I didn't let them know I had the "neo" and I hit every green in regulation. I have a 20 handicap, because my putting is the weakest part of my game. (maybe they will have a gps for my putting game!

Well back to the game...I hit fade off the tee which put me in bounds in the opposite fair way, my neo said a 118 yds to the center of the green, that I could not see low bushes. I knew the exact club to pull and bam I hit it just right, these guys were amazed at my pin point accracy. The "Neo after 2 hrs and 15 min. still showed a full charge. I was pulling clubs with confidence and hitting away. I knew what I needed to carry water and when to lag up! WOW... Sky Caddie will now have to drop their price or go out of business, or try to buy out itechnology which I don't think so. I was waiting for a price drop on sky caddie but then I found "neo" and waited no more! The Neo fits comfortably in my cargo pant pocket on in my shorts. They're right the clip that it comes with is very loose and it will pop out. I will not be using it!!!

I have not down loaded the courses yet, so I will update when I get that up and running.
I'm very happy so far with my purchase and I love the igolf website for posting my score and getting real time handicap rating.

Pros: Light weight, accurate, great battery life, easy to operate, small, but very readable,
Cons: None so far! ***Will update after I sync my first course and play it! I mapped my own course and it gave me the advantage. I think the "Neo" was made just for me!!!!

Summary: The missing link if you're trying to lower your scores
Comment: I just completed my first round with my new igolf neo and I can't begin to explain how satisfied I am with my purchase. for those who are not looking for all the bells and whistles of the new skycaddie, this is the golf gps for you.

I typically shoot in the mid-high 70's. I was planning on investing in a new driver but decided to get one of these instead. I think this useful gadget will do much more to help me get over the hump to drop my handicap to the low single digits

PROS
-small enough to keep in your pocket.
-long battery life
-I love the shot distance feature
-one time $35 fee to download 100 courses (no monthly charges).
-accurate!
-much better build quality than i expected
-plot custom points on the fly
-pre mapped hazards already built into most most courses
-easy to set up and download...even with vista!

CONS:
-the belt clip is garbage
-the unit can be slippery (try not to drop it...use two hands)
-can take up to 10-15 minutes to obtain gps signal (turn it on as soon as you get to the course)

I managed to save 3-4 strokes today hitting blind shots relying only on the yardage readings on my neo and the pin placements on my scorecard. Plus now that I dont have to pace out my yardage from the sprinkler heads, play seems to go much smoother and I have one less thing to distract me from making a smooth, solid stroke as I approach my ball.

get one...
