Summary: GARMIN GolfLogix GPS.....Awesome!!!!
Comment: Wow! The GolfLogix GPS is just awesome! I've had the unit for about a month now and have played 20 rounds with it on 12 different golf courses in the Northern California/Central Valley area. And it has worked flawlessly.

My rounds played are much shorter. I have a lot more confidence in the club that I am choosing and in turn you start making better decisions in what kind of shot to hit because of the accurate yardage it gives you (to the green, hazards, etc.).

This uses AA batteries, but make sure that you buy a good brand of alkaline batteries (Duracell, Energizer). It will last longer for you...easily 3 rounds or more. And don't put it in your pocket or bag while you're playing because it loses the satellite signal. It needs a clear view of the sky to get a good signal. The signal will come back pretty quick, but it might slow down your round. Also, the signal that I had was always constant. I never lost it at anytime that I played.

And the Price.... you just cannot beat the price here on Amazon.com. Just about every golf site or golf pro shop that I've been to, it has gone for $330 - $350. I bought mine when the price was $182.95 ...what a deal!!! Bottom line is if you play a lot of golf (like me!) or just love playing this game and would like one of the best golf aids out there....go buy the GARMIN GolfLogix GPS unit. You won't be sorry that you did.

Summary: Garmin scores again!!
Comment: I ordered this unit on Wednesday at about 2 p.m. with overnight delivery. Got it about 9 a.m. on Thursday. WOW!!! Took the unit out of the box, downloaded the software, picked a local course that I wanted to play and loaded it into the unit. At 1 p.m. the same day I was standing at the first tee and the unit was showing me the distances to the bunkers in the fairway. During the round I checked the unit with several of the distances marked on the sprinkler heads. This unit was spot on every time. Within two yards of the courses distances.

I ordered this unit (2007 model) because of the price. There a few subtle differences between this and the 2008 model. 1) 2008 can hold 20 courses compared to 10 on the 2007 model. (don't think I need 20 courses right now) 2) 2008 model can show the distance of the last shot whereas the 2007 model won't. (I can still add and subtract so I don't really need that feature.

So, this unit is everything that I hoped it would be. I will certainly enjoy my rounds of golf more not having to look for yardage markers and sprinkler heads. I am currently working on a GPS golf ball that will automatically track to the center of the fairway and the pin placements on the greens. I will keep you posted when it is available.

Seriously, if you are in the market for a golf gps, go with a proven name: GARMIN. I have no complaints about mine.

Comment: This is a great device. I love the way it advances to the next obstacle. My friends have the other device (Sky Caddie) and it just does not measure up to the Golf logic. It could only be improved if it came as a rechargeable unit. I get five rounds before I replace the batteries.

Summary: GolfLogix GPS works well after software update
Comment: I bought a GolfLogix GPS, based on positive reviews. Initially, I downloaded only my home course (for free) to test the unit. It worked quite well, although there were a few glitches, which I fixed with a reset.

I then subscibed to the download service and downloaded a number of course in preparation for a golf outing to the US mainland. (I live in Hawaii). On the first course the unit failed miserably, giving me a yardage of 980 yards off the first tee. I could not even turn the unit off without removing one of the batteries. The same thing happened on three other courses in California. Needless to say, I was very disappointed and upset.

When I returned to Hawaii, I contacted GolfLogix Customer Support. They analyzed the problem as having something to do with my Windows XP. They gave me a number to call to have a technician walk me through the process of installing a software update. The technician was competent and patient. After the fix, the unit has been working flawlessly on my home course. I can't wait to take it on another trip to the mainland.

Summary: Great Product!
Comment: I love my GolfLogix!

I've used it four times and am constantly amazed at the accuracy......and it speeds up the game with no constantly checking for distance markers.
