Summary: Excellent choice Comment: If you're looking for a gps for outdoors activities(hiking, climbing, biking) and you also want to combine it using it on the road....this is your choice....light weight, water resistance, routable and memory expandable.....I had etrex legend c....I was very happy with it....but this one is better much more.

Summary: Wow! Comment: I love this GPS unit. The WAAS feature gives super-precise locations, and the unit has so many features I still am learning. I can't imagine hiking without it. Did I mention the great geocaching you can do?

Summary: An excellent GPS receiver for Geocaching Comment: I was just recently introduced to the hobby of Geocaching by a relative and enjoyed it very much. My wife and I decided to purchase a GPS receiver of our own. After much review, I narrowed my choice down to the Garmin Vista HCX and the Garmin 60CXS.
Both of the devices are excellent and will probably come down personal preferences concerning button placement and how they "feel" in your hand. I can tell you that you would be pleased with either.
I chose the HCX for the following reasons.
Extremely quick and accurate satellite acquisition.
Very bright and readable screen.
Convenient geocaching options makes it fun and easy to use.
Price is very good for the performance and features you get.
As far as shopping through Amazon goes, I continue to be delighted, purchase after purchase, with how efficiently the process runs. I have never been as thoroughly satisfied with any merchant as I have been in my dealings with Amazon.

Summary: Garmin eTrex Vista HCx Comment: The HCx has turned out to be better then I had anticipated. It did take a couple of weeks to get familiar with the buttons, and changing displays, but I have never liked to read manuals when working with a new product. The manual however once opened did have the simple answers.
Althought it doesn't speak, it does get annoyed when I decide to deviate from my pre-planned routes. It does come with a basic base map which however is not detailed enough to get you to specific addresses (such as mapquest). I'll be using my eTrex for hiking in Switzerland this fall and discover the the maps I'll require are more expensive then the price of the eTrex.

Summary: Fun for the cache and the cash Comment: I really enjoy this GPS I have used mostly for geocaching and travel. It works great and would recommend it to anyone who likes to run into the wilderness.
