Summary: wow Comment: I HAVE THE VISTA HCX. I JUST SPENT A WEEK IN THE MT ADAMS WILDERNESS HUNTING.I BOUGHT THE PRE LOADED MICRO SD WITH THE 2008 TOPO MAP. IT WAS SO EASY JUST PUT IT IN AND THERE IS A NEW ICON ON THE MENU.. THAT SIMPLE. EVEN IN THE DEEPEST DARKEST FOREST I NEVER EVEN CAME CLOSE TO LOSING RECEPTION. IT WOULD RANGE BETWEEN 10FT AND 40FT. ALL FIVE TIMES THAT I TOLD THE HUNTING PARTY WHERE I COULD BE PICKED UP AT DARK I EMERGED FROM THE WOODS EXACTLY AT THAT POINT USING THE PROXIMITY WAY POINT FEATURE. I WAS GETTING ABOUT 18 HOURS OUT OF A PAIR OF KIRKLAND BRAND AA BATTERIES NEEDLESS TO SAY THE OTHER THREE GUYS ARE GETTING THE VISTA FOR NEXT YEAR.

Summary: Great receiver Comment: This is my first GPS receiver and I couldn't be happier. I have used it for geocaching and as a bike computer with the Garmin bike mount bracket. I have never lost satellite coverage. Highly recommended.

Summary: Fantastic, very satisfied Comment: I will keep this as short as possible. The only drawback is the small screen, but that's what you sacrifice for extreme portability and honestly, it doesn't bother me that much.
I'm in Iraq and most civilian GPS systems and even some of our own can't get a signal inside our armored trucks w/o an external antenna, but this one can even without the high-sensitivity feature turned on. I've taken it out on four patrols for a total running time of about 36hrs and the batteries only read half-drained. Granted they're lithium batteries and I use the backlight VERY sparingly, but still, very impressed.
It's everything I would want in a GPS, I had the RINO and while that was nice, this is so much better since I RARELY used the radio feature. It's worth the money, shop around, I found mine for just over $200 new.
If you don't already know, the loaded maps are sparse, so don't expect a lot of detail w/o shelling out some cash for new maps, but that's the case with any GPS.
Bottom line, great product, Garmin impresses me again. If it's good enough for me in Iraq, I don't see where this bad-boy would fail.

Summary: Fantastic Handheld GPS Comment: I bought this Garmin eTrex Vista Hcx for my new hobby, Geocaching. Even though I'm a fledgling at this sport and there's so many bells & whistles on this GPS, it's user friendly. I took it out of the box, put some batteries in it, read the quick start directions and I was off and caching in just minutes.
I might take the time to read all the other neat things it can do. But for now, it's quite accurate even in tree covered areas.
I love it!

Summary: Great Unit, very Versatile Comment: I got the model as an upgrade to the original Vista C, which only had 24MB of internal memory.
Picks up the satellite signal much faster than the older model. Also sems to track a little faster, which is especially helpful, when doing trun by turn.
I lve the fact that I can use it anywhere. I have a mount for my car and my bike, and love being able to fit almost the entire US on a 2 GB card.
Only problem is it does take a pretty long time to copy the map data to tthe card.
