Summary: Some problems but great support Comment: I own this product but did not purchase it through Amazon. I have been happy with the versatility of the unit, I use it both on and off road. I have had a couple of problems requiring me to send in the unit for repairs. Each time it was just after the 1 year warranty expired. I am very impressed with Garmin Support and how they stand by their products. Even though I've had a few problems, I wouldn't hesitate to buy more Garmin products.

Summary: Garmin eTrex Vista CX Color Handheld GPS Comment: This is a great little handheld GPS for hiking and geocaching. Has a micro SD card expansion slot which is perfect for upgrading the maps and using the eTrex as a USB flash drive. I gave it a 4 out of 5 stars because it does lack on the getting satellite locks while inside buildings and loses satellite reception if you put it in a pocket. Other than that, if you are in the open or hiking through the trees, this is a perfect inexpensive GPS for hiking and geocaching.

Summary: Works Great! Highly Recommend Comment: I received the GPS sooner than estimated and it has performed up to my expectations. It powers up quickly and after using it for over a month it has been accurate over the trails in both distance and elevations. I definitely recommend it.
The only reason I did not rate it a 4 is the Garmin MapSource Topo U.S. 2008 did not come with it, but I knew that when I purchased it. After installing the Topo U.S. it will be a solid 5.

Summary: Great for geo-caching, but additional software and memory for street navigating Comment: This works excellent for geo-caching. With the built-in compass and excellent satellite reception, it almost feels like you're cheating. Street navigation is excellent with purchase of additional software. The altimeter works very well for tracking vertical profiles. Because in reality this is a precision barometer, it works best when the weather is steady. If you want to know the exact altitude above sea level, a topo map is still the best choice.
Here's why I only gave it a four-stars: If you plan to do street navigating, plan to spend another $100 or so on "city navigator North America". The software "trip and waypoint manager" included with the unit is sketchy and low detail. You also need to purchase larger micro flash memory.

Summary: Great hand held unit Comment: This unit takes a while to acquire satellites but then it's a wonder. It does all you can ask of it. The only major drawback is that Garmin charges for each additional map set that you may want.
