Summary: Awesome GPS
Comment: This is my second GPS (I upgraded from a eTrex Legend) and I Love it! It does an excellent job keeping a signal when in the woods where my old one wouldn't have had a signal at all. I also like the digital compass and altimeter even though I thought they would just be another toy feature when I bought it. I have some maps loaded on it now too and with a 1GB card I can hold most all of the US. You can also save the tracks to the memory card. The navigation features don't seem to work well for me though but I think that may be because I am using an old version of Mapsource (v7). Overall I would highly recommend this.

Summary: Awesome Portable GPS From GARMIN
Comment: I had the Garmin 60CS and it worked great. I now upgraded to the 60CSX. The 60CSX is awesome. You get signal just about anywhere even inside your house. I like to geocache every once in a while and this unit is perfect for it. Especially when you have a lot of tree cover in the woods, the unit can still hold a strong signal. Also add the 1 gig memory card and you can get all of the US installed on it, and if you use the topo and city nav. together you can get half of the US installed. It stores lots of data and gives accurate door to door directions. If your thinking about it, go for it you wont be sorry. I bought it here on amazon and signed up for the mazon credit card and got [...]dollars off and then had a Garmin [...] mail in rebate, so I saved [...] on the unit. I love it. I Love all Garmin products I have used them for years on land and sea.

Summary: This is the GPS Unit you want!
Comment: Bought this from Amazon and it is fantastic. My review may sound like I own Garmin stock - which I do not. Upgraded from a Garmin eTrex and found the 60CSx very easy to use. Learned all of the basic pages in an hour or so. The unit is very intuitive and you don't really need the manual. The features and accuracy are the best. Map functions are cool with ability to drag an arrow to a desired spot and create a go-to point. All display fields are changeable and the accuracy in the field is outstanding. Compass switches from GPS-based to magnetic after x seconds if you stop moving. Recommended to a friend and he bought one as well.

Summary: Garmins best yet
Comment: I have been buying Garmin GPS for over 11 years beginning with a "45" and have owned several, Plus II, etrex, summit, foretrex 201. They just get better and cheaper. Before mapping GPS I used an IPAC and software to download maps and tracks - too much trouble. The 60cxs is the ultimate outdoor GPS and very adequate for highway and town. The size is a perfect match between weight and readability, the GPS is optimized to a minimum number simple operations, electronic compass and altimeter, the screen and maps are gorgeous and the ability to buy a pre-programmed chip is brillant and cheaper than my first Garmin 45. I have speciality uses for the Foretrex 201 and the Summit but the 60cxs is a real keeper.

Summary: Top of the Line
Comment: I already owned a GPSmap 60CS but finally decided to buy the 60CSx to get the removable memory. It was an excellent decision. Besides the removable memory, the improved SiRF receiver is much more sensitive than the 60CS. WIth the 60CSx, I have no trouble getting satellite lock inside my house where the 60CS can't. That alone was worth the price. The removable memory is also great. I bought a 2G microSD card on sale for $40 and loaded the entire City Select USA with room to spare (it took several hours to transfer the data, though). I can now take the 60CSx anywhere in the US and do turn-by-turn highway navigation without having to load new maps as I travel.

It's not perfect, but pretty close. Surprisingly, when I use it with National Geographic TOPO! software it doesn't import waypoint names properly even though the 60CS does fine. But this is likely as much a problem with the NG software as with the 60CSx. Also, Garmin has a ways to go in making first-rate topo map software. Theirs is too low resolution except in a few national parks. But again, that's not a complaint on the receiver but rather on their software maps.
