Summary: Best Gps for people on the go Comment: This is the best gps I have found for people on the go. I use this gps when I drive and go for walks. I really like the waterproof protection it provides. Make sure you buy rechargable batteries, Gps will drain batteries in about 15-18 hours.

Summary: Great GPS Comment: I got this GPS to replace an older GPS III+ and it has performed great so far. I have used it in a vehicle without external ant., in heavy timber and deep canyons, and in town and always had a good 3d position fix. Garmin's Topo software leaves a bit to be desired but is the only software that can add more map detail in the GPS itself. I highly recommend to anyone looking for a rugged and high performance GPS.

Summary: Just about the best Garmin GPS for hikers Comment: I have quite a few Garmin GPS units and this one is my favorite ( it was so much my favorite that I purchased a second one a couple of days ago )
1) It has the SiRF GPS chip and it locks onto a GPS fix much faster than the now obsolete 12 channel units ( Don't waste your time buying a 12 channel unit; wait until a SiRF upgrade comes out ). When you first receive the unit, of course the first thing you want to do is to experiment with it. This unit is so sensitive that it locks in quite quickly indoors. (BTW, the Pharos GPS unit that comes with Microsoft Streets & Routes 2007 is equally sensitive )
2) This unit has good disability accomodation ( there is no accessibility menu, which there should be, of course ) but if you are color blink, have poor eyesight or have epilepsy you can set up the unit to be reasonably usable. The only problem epileptics will have is with the blinking GPS satellite icons on the GPS page as the unit is in the lock-in process. It would be nice if Garmin would do something about this. Otherwise, you can just page to the next page and wait for the position fix to be achieved. ( One trick, since most of the other pages are very configurable, include the position accuracy as one of the fields. Rather than getting clobbered by the blinking GPS satellite icons, you can just watch the position accuracy improve to a reasonable value such as 20' and then do what you want to do
I have the Garmin 100K topographic maps on my unit. One extremely annoying "feature" is that the waypoint labels, which are displayed on the map, block the actual contour lines. So, what I want to see, is blocked by the label. It would be nice if there was an option that they would only be displayed a short time.

Summary: Best GPS Yet. Comment: This is my third GPS receiver. The first had no maps, and the second had very limited map memory. This unit can now use the new 4GB MicroSD card. Wow! The memory card stores more than just maps. It can be setup to endlessly record all tracks while the unit is on, even after the regular track space fills up. These track files can be downloaded, viewed and edited with Map Source, and uploaded to the unit if needed as saved tracks. The memory card can also store millions of custom points of interest which function like waypoints, but must be added or deleted using Garmins free POI Loader software.

Summary: Accurate and easy to use Comment: The GPSMap 60cx is my first GPs unit. I'm a gadget head, and I figured it was time to invest in a GPS unit, since I still get lost in my home town. In fact, I need directions to go anywhere, even if I've been there before. It's one of my personal limitations that I acknowledge and accept. I also wanted a GPS to start geocaching, which sounds like a cool idea that the kids and I could get into.
So I got the unit and I'm very impressed. The screen is large and bright. With Metroguide loaded I get detailed mapping data and directions around town. It's even got a special repository for geocaches. Very cool!
There are probably units that will do the same thing for less, but not with all these features. If you want a great GPS handheld for geocaching, or just getting around town, this is a good one!
