Summary: Excellent GPS system! Comment: Excellent product at a great price. This GPS is exactly on the money. Locates satellites under 30 seconds. I love that it will give you an estimated time of arrival and is exact to the minute unless there are really long traffic delays. It does adjust the ETA if you are delayed. I don't even look at the clock in the car anymore, just my ETA time on the Garmin. If I don't want to take the route it has planned for me (because I know where I am going) it will recalculate a new route as soon as I turn in the different direction. I have the Garmin Dash mount with the unit as well [Garmin Portable Friction Mount for Nuvi, StreetPilot I Series & C530, C550 (010-10908-00)] and really love that also. I first purchased a Cobra GPS and when I turned on the Cobra it said that I was in Chicago when I am in South Florida. I have never had that problem with my Garmin. My parents have one as well and love it also.
You NEED to purchase the Widescreen unit though. Very easy on the eyes and just big enough without blocking your view. The voice instruction on the unit is loud enough without being annoying and the volume can be adjusted. Unit is loaded with great points of interest. I even found a little bar in Marathon Key, FL that is really hidden off the road and known only to locals. That was even in the P.O.I.'s
I even went to Radio Shack to wire another cigarette lighter for about $8.00 directly to my vehicle key power so the unit will turn on and off automatically as I turn my car on and off. Unit does have an on/off switch, but I took the more convienant way out. ie:lazy :)

Summary: So nice I did it twice Comment: I recently purchased a Garmin Nuvi 250W for my new car. I had previously bought a Magellan product and was very happy with it. I used the Magellan on my motorcycle and twice went across the country using its guidance. I chose the Garmin for the larger screen. When I received the 250W, I was very impressed with the automatic features that the 250W had that the Magellan was missing. I particularly like the automatic zoom, the automatic dimming at night, and the identification of the next cross street. To make a long story short, I bought a second Garmin Nuvi 250W for my motorcycle.

Summary: Better Than Expected Comment: After MUCH lamenting over which model to get (I wanted a NUVI after playing with other brands), I settled on the 250W. It had the maps I wanted, wide screen and the price was falling steadily. I must say that I am super-satisfied with the unit. The graphics and operation surpassed what I expected by quite a lot. The 250W seems light years ahead of the last rental car unit I used just one year ago (I think it was a Magellen but to be fair, not sure).
With the 250W, there was no funky action of the vehicle icon. It stayed oriented properly and "on the road" unlike some others which appear to have your vehicle flying off in the woods somewhere while driving in winding mountain areas. Accuracy is excellent. All the talk of no external volume, etc, etc. is of no issue with my unit. It is easy to hear even in a Jeep at only 50% volume...and my hearing is not that good. Also, the NUVI's screen is for me, perfect as far as visibility and the amount of pressure/touch it takes to navigate the menus. You don't have to mash the display to navigate, unlike others I tried on the in store displays. I cannot think of any improvement needed to the display properties itself...fantastic. I'm very particular about electronics/controls, etc. This unit really impresses.
NUVI 250W and Amazons usual great service/good price is a winner. Surely the higher end NUVI's are good with the extra features but really not needed. 250W is a great unit, especially if you are just getting into the GPS scene. Something tricker will be out soon enough and a person can figure out what features they need later IMO, anyway.

Summary: Fantastic unit...... Comment: Others have detailed all of the specific features on this model, so I will not do it here. If you go to the garmin site you can do a side by side comparison to see if this specific model is for you.
Basically you can not go wrong with this thing!
The manual that comes with it is 15 pages but that is more than enough. The on screen prompts are easy to follow and you will be navigating in minutes.
Simple, easy to use and relatively inexpensive.

Summary: Powerful Little Unit! Comment: Purchased the Nuvi 250W to take on vacation with us...Talk about a great portable GPS unit that is so easy to use my 10 year old is programming it! Very simple design, sleek and mounts nicely with the portable suction device provided...Street maps are nothing fancy but this unit is powerful enough to get you back on track if you make a wrong turn! Always re-calculates your destination if for some reason you are not paying attention! Entry level unit that does not speak the actual street name but does provide the next direction needed at the top of the screen...Bottom line, you don't need to spend a fortune on a fancy GPS unit that talks to you on every move you make...Before you know it, you'll be "muting" the ladies voice because you'll be tired of listening to her talk! Keep it simple by purchasing this great device...Nice wide screen adds an easy to read display while mounted to the dash...Holds a pretty good charge (4-5hrs.) and sometimes takes a minute or two to capture the intial signals on start-up...Keep it simple, and go with the Nuvi 250W...You won't be disappointed!
