Summary: Outstanding GPS- highly recommend Comment: I like things to do what they are supposed to do. The garmin 250W does everything a GPS should.
It's so easy you can use it right out of the box. The screen is the perfect size (the reason I choose it over more expensive models) allowing you to easily select touch screen options without mistakenly hitting other buttons. Also the maps are much easier to see at this larger size!!!
The screen picture is very clear and has all the info you need (a large visual of the road, a written description on the top, mileage until next turn LR corner and estimated time LL corner).
Only con is the maps are from 2006 version. You can download new ones from the website if you have the required (sold separately) internet cable. I'm stationed at Keesler AFB on MS gulf coast and after Katrina alot of the roads / existing stores have changed.
Lots of other great features for those that desire it. Overall very pleased (and I'm not often pleased with electronic purchases) and will be buying several as holiday gifts for family.
If you want a great GPS for your car and don't care about having features that only duplicate devices you already have (MP3's ext...) I would highly recommend this unit.

Summary: 250W, all you really need Comment: So, because I already have an iPod I didn't see any logical reason to get a GPS that plays mp3's. And, because I can answer my cell phone pretty good already, it seemed overkill to have my GPS serve a similar purpose. Result? I didn't "need" to pay for all those extra options on a GPS.
This GPS does what it should do, it gets me to where I need to go. It's estimates on time of arrival are scary accurate, it's directions are logical, and it recalculates quickly.
Seriously, this is all you really need in a GPS.

Summary: Good value for the price Comment: When I accidentally ran over my first Nuvi 250W, I did not want to use that as an excuse to get a different model. I got a second 250W. It does not have bluetooth (for that I have my phone and my hands-free kit), it does not have an MP3 player (I have couple of iPods and I cannot imagine the sound quality of any GPS system coming close to a dedicated MP3 player), and it does not spell out the names of the streets (I can read, thank you). What it has, however, is what I need from a GPS system - no frills navigation. It is very accurate, I really like the algorithm that governs the routing function, and It even predicts my arrival times within +/- few minutes. Since I had no plans to subscribe to any traffic radio service, absence of that function does not affect me at all.
All in all, I really like my 250W. If it had a shortcut to go back to the "MAP" from any other level of the menu, this would be the perfect unit.

Summary: Garmin nuvi 250W GPS Comment: I already have a high-end Garmin so I had the opportunity to compare many features and performance. The Out Of The Box experience was great - everything worked as advertised. The map was current, all the Points Of Interest were correct, and directions were spot-on and almost identical to my other unit. The wide screen is very nice and the size and portability are a nice change from my other one (which is large and needs to be plugged in - no batteries). Easily carries in a briefcase for business trips.
It does not say street names - which I like but not a huge deal. The only other two negatives are 1) it had trouble with satellites in cities with tall buildings, as they all seem to do and 2) although showing pictures on it (via the SD memory card) is really cool, it is very slow to index through the pictures and change between them (although the slideshow features masks this and is neat).
Overall its a great unit if you're looking to not spend too much, have a large screen and can live without playing MP3's and some other features it's missing, especially given the price you can find it for online.

Summary: Technology at a bargain price.. Comment: We love this product for both its capability as well as its price....that is all we wanted from a portable GPS. The features that more expensive units offer provide no practical use!
